Santa Fe Spring II
The Cecilio E Smalling Tournament was held on April 27, 2024 at Los Nietos Park in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Unfortunately, there was not enough teams to host a 2-day tournament.
The Smalling family would like to thank all the teams that participated to make this tournament happen.
Budmen Claims Win In Thrilling Showdown Against Maccabi USABy GameChanger Media
Budmen defeated Maccabi USA 6-5 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the fourth when Anthony York doubled, scoring one run.
Budmen were the first to get on the board in the first when Mike York singled, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Maccabi USA went back into the lead after Jeremy Rooney singled, Jason Orbegon singled, and Martin Weiner tripled, each scoring one run.
Budmen made the score 5-3 in the top of the third after York doubled, scoring one run, and Norman Baca singled, scoring two runs.
Chris Paiva singled, which helped Maccabi USA tie the game at five in the bottom of the third.
Lamar Goss earned the win for Budmen. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Jason Gluckman took the loss for Maccabi USA. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking four.
York and York each collected two hits for Budmen. Baca and York each drove in two runs for Budmen. Budmen worked the count all day, amassing four walks.
Paiva provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Maccabi USA with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Orbegon, Rooney, Paiva, David Waco, Weiner, Mark Sheckman, and Joe Shwartz each collected one hit for Maccabi USA.
