Cecilio E Smailling Memorial
SCIFL hosted its “Cecilio E Smalling Memorial” on April 29-30, 2023 at Los Nietos and Little Lake Park.
The Smalling family would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament in memory of Cecilio E Smalling.
In the round robin on Saturday, Raymar and Beaumont Coyotes both go undefeated with Raymar taking the 1st seed by only allowing 1 run and Coyotes taking the 2nd seed. Those Guys took the 3rd seed followed by Maccabi, Budmen, Bandits, and Warriors.
On Sunday, the #1 seed, Raymar faced off with Maccabi and lost 4 to 2. Maccabi started off their single elimination by defeating the Budmen behind the pitching of Jason Gluckman who also pitched the Raymar game, getting them to the championship game where Chad Landers would take over.
The Beaumont Coyotes go undefeated Sunday, as well, to claim their first Championship of the year. In the championship game they defeated Maccabi 4 to 2 behind the pitching of Jesse Martinez who was named MVP of the tournament.
