Santa Fe Springs III
Nine teams competed in the third So Cal Independent Fastpitch (SCIFL) Alliance tournament on April 23 – 24, 2016, at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs, CA under ideal playing conditions with the weather in the mid-70s.
After Saturday’s pool play and Sunday’s single elimination playoff A1 Rockies emerged the champion by Maccabi USA forfeiting the title game due to player injuries.
Saturday’s pool play finished with two teams going undefeated. The A1 Rockies would take the No. 1 seed, by allowing only one run, and the other undefeated team Those Guys would take the No. 2 seed followed by Beaumont Coyotes, Team Hutton, So Cal Heat, Maccabi USA, Budmen/Casa, and So Cal Bandits.
One Sunday, Maccabi USA would start off their run to the championship game by defeating the Beaumont Coyotes 3-2 and Those Guys 3-2, with Russ Snow pitching against Beaumont Coyotes and Jason Gluckmen against Those Guys. Both games played were very close with Maccabi USA coming out victorious.
Meanwhile, A1 Rockies defeated Brew Crew 18-0 and Team Hutton 4-0, with Cory Wertz pitching against Brew Crew and Rob Schweyer against Team Hutton.
No title game was played.
The next Alliance tournament will be held on May 15, 2016. This will be a one day tournament with 3 games minimum and 8 teams maximum.
