2013 Santa Fe Springs VI Tournament

PALA WINS THEIR THIRD TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR

The field was set with 8 teams facing off in what would be the last tournament of the season prior to the NAFA World Series.  At the completion of round robin play the Long Beach Wolfpack had the number one seed with a 3-0 record while allowing only 6 runs.  Colton took the second seed also with a perfect 3-0 record. 

The Pala Braves had a rough Saturday and finished with a 1-2 record for the fifth seed and an early morning game against San Diego Primetime.  They got the bats rolling and came off with a 6-1 victory and then edge out the Wolfpack in the semi-finals with a 1-0 score. 

This placed them in the championship game against the Colton Dirtbags.  Sonny Perkins was in the circle for Pala against Tommy Oberagon.  Jesse Martinez lead off the game with a "how do you do" home run for a quick 1-0 lead.  The Braves would tie the score in their half of the inning with doubles from Tommy Herrera and Lance Molina.  The Braves added a run in both the second and third inning to take the lead to 3-1.

In the fourth inning Colton got on the board again scoring a run.  But in the bottom of the inning Pala came back with two more runs and a three-run lead.  Sonny scattered six hits and got six strikeouts and shut down Colton the rest of the game for the win. 

Colton had an interesting morning as they came from behind to beat J&B Painting in their first game of the day on a really weird play that had them winning on a ball thrown out of play.  In the semi-finals they faced Rude-Pac and won with a 7-4 score. 

The Alliance season is complete for the 2013.  Good luck to all teams and players going to the various championship tournaments.
