2010 Santa Fe Springs III

The Panteras win their second Championship of the season!

The Panteras with the pitching of Sebastian Gervasutti, Gearld Pyle and Billy Montana rolled to a perfect 3-0 record in the round robin portion of the tournament allowing only 4 runs to take the number one seed in the single elimination.  With the first round bye, they faced San Diego Primetime in their first game who just came off a 14 inning game against Maccabi USA.  The Panteras took advantage of the long game and run-ruled Primetime 11-0 to face the Savala Painters in the semi-finals.   The Painters did not go quietly; scoring 6 runs off the Panteras but in the end came up short with the Panteras winning 8-6.

In the Championship game the Panteras had Sebastian in the circle against Darrin McCall of Liberty FP.  The game was scoreless until the top of the third win Liberty scored a run with two outs on two base hits.  Liberty FP held the lead going into the bottom of the fifth win the Panteras bats finally woke up scoring 6 in the inning.  Robert Ramos open the inning up with a home run, After a hit batter, Anthony Rocha tripled to score the second run of the inning.  After three more singles and a triple by Jason Obergon, Doug Rooney came in for relief of McCall to end the inning.  Liberty scored a run in the top of the sixth but the Panteras answeredright back scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the inning and then Sebastian held off Liberty in the final inning to win the championship 7-2.

Liberty FP earned the number 3 seed coming out of the round robin, also with a perfect 3-0 record, and faced the Pala Braves in their first game of the day.  They won 7-3 to face the Long Beach Black Sox in the Semi-finals and once again won the game 7-3 to face the Panteras in the championship game.
