A TRIBUTE TO "C"

Sunday's Master League schedule, PRESS HERE

The SCIFL, along with his friends, will be hosting a tribute for Cecillo Smalling who passed away last November.

The tribute will take place during the Masters games that will be played on Sunday, May 1, at Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

The tribute is scheduled for noon, but will start once all the 10:30 games have been completed to allow all teams to be able move to field 1.  There will be various speakers from his family and softball friends.

A small luncheon will be provided at the park for all.

ASA Non-Approved Bat List
The Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA)/USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, in working with Easton Baseball/Softball Inc. (Easton), announced today that Easton is voluntarily removing the following softball bat models from the ASA/USA list of certified bats: SCN1, SCN11BH, SCN1B, SCN2B, SCN3, SCN4B, SCN5, SCN5B, SCN6B, SCN7, SCN7B, SCN8, SCN8B, SCN9, SCX14, SCX14B, SCX24B, AND SCX3.
Other organizations that currently use ASA’s bat performance standards such as the NCAA, NFHS, NAIA, NJCAA may restrict such bats from play in 2016 and beyond. SCIFL will restrict the Easton bats that were removed.

Bat Testing
Tamper proof decal stickers will be utilized at this event so each bat will need to be tested prior to use. Bats that do not have a tamper proof decal sticker will not be allowed in the game. Players should not try to take the tamper proof decal sticker off because any bat with a sticker that looks like it’s been tampered with will not be allowed in play.

In order to start the games on time please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to game time so we can test your bat and provide passing bats with a tamper proof decal sticker for umpires to check on the field.

LAS VEGAS ROAD TRIP BRACKETS

El Nino strikes again! Unfortunately the fields are not playable and the remainder of the tournament has been forced to be cancelled.  The SCIFL would like to thank all the players, coaches and fans for coming to the tournament and wish you all a safe trip home.

32 teams from Canada, Mexico, and the United States are all represented at the tournament.  The schedule has been set and all divisions will use the 3-game guarantee NAFA bracket. The championship games are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday with "IF" games immediately after if necessary.  As with any tournaments these are the scheduled times and games may push back a bit during the course of the day so please plan flights accordingly.

IMPORTANT FREEWAY INFORMATION

There is major freeway work on both sides of the 5. The Northbound Pioneer exit is still closed and will not be open before this weekend. If you are coming from the South (Orange County, San Diego, etc) exit at Norwalk and make a right off the freeway.  Go to Lakeland and make a left. The park will be on your right after a couple of blocks.

If you are coming from the North (LA, Palmdale, Burbank, etc), the Imperial Highway exit is open.  It has not been traveled on to verify but it appears that when you exit you will make a right onto Imperial Highway and then another right on Pioneer Blvd.  Go to Lakeland and make a right.

If you do not trust the 5 South directions above, take the 5 South to the 605 South/Florence exit and exit on Florence (the off ramp is on the transition road).  Make a left and and follow the bend in the road (you will go under the 605 and over the 5 freeway).  Take Florence to Pioneer Blvd and make a right.  The park will be on your left.
