Norwalk 2009 Panteras Tournament

The St. Valentine's tournament is in the books and the Panteras have taken the first championship of the season with a 12-0 victory over the Colton Dirt Bags.  The Panteras Reached the championship with a 1 - 2 record in the round robin but they finished with the second seed in their pool as a result of the tie breakers.  On Sunday morning they faced the Raymar, San Diego Primetime and the number one seed of the tournament, the Silverhawks.  The Panteras had Travis Price and Robby Epps throwing with Price getting the majority of the innings.  In 25 innings Price allowed 10 hits and stuck out 34 with .28 ERA.  Epps had 17 strikeouts in 11 innings for a good one-two punch.

The Colton Dirt Bags said they were coming into the season to see how they could do and they showed the rest of the league they could play.  The Dirt Bags also came into Sunday with a 1-2 record and the third seed from their three game pool.  They faced three tough squads in the Panteras II, Palm Springs Express and the Long Beach Black Sox to reach the finals.  Frank Jimenez did the majority of pitching on Saturday and got help on Sunday from Jeremy Rogers. Over the course of the tournament the Dirt Bags had 51 hits with a .336 batting average to keep them winning on Sunday.
