2009 SANTA FE SPRINGS I

FLOR DE CANA WIN THEIR SECOND TOURNAMENT OF THE SEASON

Flor de Cana (FDC) plays all day and wins four in a row for the Santa Fe Springs Championship.  FDC started the day against Palm Springs Express with a 5-2 victory.  This set them up against the number two seed of the tournament the Caribbeans.  In a close game FDC came out on top 6-5.  In the semi-finals FDC opened up against the Amigos with a 11-4 victory.  NOTE:  Robert Martinez, who was hit by a line drive, is doing fine and checked out OK.

In the championship game FDC faced off against the Panteras II with Darrin McCall in the circle against Anthony Martinez. FDC scored first with 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits, a walk and a sacrifice bunt.  The Panteras II cut the lead to one as they scored a run in the top of the third.  FDC scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the third.

Both pitchers shut down the batters for the remainder of the game.  Darrin went the distance for the complete game win and a 2-1 record for the tournament with 10 strikeouts and an impressive 1.05 ERA.

Panteras II opened the day against the Panteras.  There was a lot of maroon on the field for this game.  In a very close game they came out on top 1-0 to set them up against San Diego Primetime in the semi-finals.  Panteras II defeated Primetime 6-2 to send them to the Championship game.
